• NEW MUSIC: Paper Voices 'Clover Hill'

After a long gap in our release schedule, we are pleased to return with this new album from Paper Voices the dark ambient project of Ohio based musician/composer Curtis Swinford. Clover Hill was inspired by a 19th century cemetery located near the 60 acre farm where Curtis currently resides. It is a haunting tribute to the souls of that cemetery.

  • NEW MUSIC: Beth Kleist 'Drei'

A welcome return this month to Beth Kleist, a duo we've been fans of since their debut in 2005. In addition to the limited edition cassette release on new label Tarkovsky Green, we're pleased to offer Beth Kleist's 'Drei' as a free download in MP3 and FLAC formats. To purchase the cassette version drop an email to bethvonkleist [at] googlemail [dot] com.

  • NEW MUSIC: Voder 'Motes'

This month we're pleased to bring you a new album from Brighton, UK based musician Paul Nadin, a.k.a Voder. The album builds on the sound he put forward on his debut 'Island', and is one of the most gorgeous ambient releases we've heard in ages.

  • NEW MUSIC: Only Light To Clear Away

We're pleased to announce the release of the first Distance compilation 'Only Light To Clear Away'. The compilation, which was curated between June 2010 and January 2011, features a host of regular Distance artists plus some special guests who we invited to contribute, including: Sons Of Magdalene (Joshua Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv), Turk Dietrich (Belong), Loscil, Simon Scott (ex Slowdive), Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails) and Rolan Vega.

This release is available to purchase as a digital download for a minimum amount of $5 and in light of the recent tragic events in Japan, we will be donating 100% of the proceeds to the Japanese Red Cross Society in order to help with the earthquake and tsunami relief effort.

  • NEW MUSIC: Quonset Slut 'Quonset Slut'

After a bleak winter, Ted James Butler brings us a thoughtful reflection of brooding emptiness with his project Quonset Slut. Utilizing the electric guitar as the source audio and manipulating the signal with a variety of methods, Ted captures what we are describing as doom metal meeting post-rock with a heavy ambient background.

We are supporting Ted's release in addition to limited run cassette tapes that you can find at the link below.

  • NEW MUSIC: Devin Underwood + Marcus Fischer 'Correspond'

Following last month's Implex Grace release are two artists who have created a collaboration that we felt was an absolutely perfect fit. Devin Underwood, who was previously release with Distance as Specta Ciera as well as being part of the duo Drexon Field; and Marcus Fischer, who has released on Taylor Deupree's excellent label 12k, come together on this release to create a stunning work that is both sublime and ecstatic.

Slow moving and very natural, 'Correspond' will almost certainly keep you warm on a cold winter evening.

  • New Website Launch

Hey folks! As you may have already noticed, we've just launched a new website. It's now powered by the new virb system, which means that besides looking a lot nicer, it's also much easier for us to maintain and update on a regular basis. Our releases can now also be streamed on each of their individual pages, allowing you to check out the album fully before deciding to grab the MP3 or FLAC's.

We have lots of things on the horizon, so keep an eye out for new releases and a forthcoming compilation, featuring some very special guests, to be announced soon.

    Thanks for listening!

  • NEW MUSIC: Benjamin Dauer 'Burning of Wine'

We're pleased to announce the release of Benjamin Dauer's debut album 'Burning of Wine'. The album features spaces of varying density and a cascade of harmonics through each of its movements. This sonically impressive release has been mastered by James Plotkin, and is now available for free download.
